Battery Component Replacement
BCR2
A permanent battery replacement for compatible M.T.H. PS2 locomotives using 3-volt or 2.4-volt battery systems.
Plug the BCR2 into the existing battery connector and eliminate the conventional rechargeable battery pack.
Battery Component Replacement
Designed for PS2
Power up your engine in neutral at 10 volts or more for one minute, and the engine will be ready to run regardless of how long it has been sitting.
Compatibility
Is BCR2 right for your locomotive?
The BCR2 is designed for the PS2 three-volt system.
Your PS2 locomotive may use a battery pack containing two AA batteries in blue plastic wrap or two AAA batteries in green plastic wrap. The BCR2 may also be used in an engine that has been upgraded to PS2.
Before Ordering
Check your locomotive instructions.
Check the instructions for your PS2 locomotive to determine which battery system it uses.
Look for a specification indicating a 3-volt or 2.4-volt battery. This will help confirm that the BCR2 is the correct battery replacement for your locomotive.
Installation
A permanent battery replacement.
The BCR2 permanently replaces the conventional battery and plugs into the locomotive's existing battery connector.
Getting Started
Getting your locomotive ready to run.
After the BCR2 is installed, power up the engine in neutral at 10 volts or more.
Apply track power at 10 volts or more with the engine in neutral.
Give the BCR2 one full minute to charge.
After that minute, your locomotive is ready for normal operation.
Charging Indicator
Your locomotive tells you when it needs a charge.
When the BCR2 needs to be charged, the locomotive's sound volume will be lower than normal.
As the BCR2 charges, the sound level will return to normal. Even after the sound returns to normal, allow the full one-minute charging period before operating the locomotive.
Any time the sound level is lower than normal, the BCR2 needs to be charged.
Command Mode
Charge while you run.
In Command mode, run your engine for one minute and the BCR2 will be charged.
The BCR2 will hold its charge for over a week after power to the engine is turned off.
If you operate the locomotive at least once a week, you will not normally have to wait for the BCR2 to charge before running the engine.
